Our History:
First founded in 2019, the Singapore Introductory Moot Program (SIMP) was created to give Pre-University students a taste of legal research and advocacy via an interactive experience.
We are guided by the purpose of expanding and extending law-related education to pre-university and law undergraduates in Singapore, with the hope of improving access and understanding of the industry. Our organization has been running annual moots with over 100 pre-university participants since 2019. On top of our annual mooting competition, we organise community outreach and engagement events such as school talks in conjunction with our partners.
Mission and Vision
Access
Opportunities relating to legal work such as internships are often scarce and inaccessible for Pre-University students. As an introductory programme, we want to provide an open platform for participants to sample a taste of the study of law and the mooting experience.
Exposure
The competitive aspect of the programme allows for a dynamic and hands-on application of the knowledge accumulated through the workshops. We aim to provide participants with insights into the legal world via the rigorous process of legal research and appellate advocacy, in a safe and controlled environment.
Demistify
The study and practice of law are often poorly understood, with misconceptions being common amongst prospective law students. Through direct engagement with legal material, we wish to deconstruct such misconceptions and provide participants a chance to assess their own aptitude and interest towards the law.
